Exciting News from WRATH_Africa!
by Laura Slap-Shelton, Psy.D. and Michael Agundah

WRATH_Africa is planning an important meeting on April 26, 2007 and is experiencing a growth in their membership. Coleta Aduodi is looking for office space upcountry and she expects to register as a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) soon. She will let us know when this happens.

In the meatime Michael Agundah, who has been working with Coleta reports that they have been able to meet some of widows in Funyula (Busia District - Western Kenya province). These widows had several important ideas pertaining to fund raising through Agricultural Promotion. Their suggestions included:

  1. Uplifting the farming system within the district and they would be interested in working with organisations that would be willing to provide training to subsistance farmers through locally available institutes like the Agricultural Farmers Training Centers in order to promote a crop production system that can uplift farmers' savings.
  2. The world is beautiful in its natural colour, green. Tree planting and harvesting is one of the Agricultural activities that has not been discovered by many farmers in Africa. Most of widows expressed concern and willingness to invest in Tree Planting if they could be linked with such organisations willing to provide support for such activities.
  3. Promotion of the Horticultural Products. Other widows with horticultural ideas were interested in finding a horticultural firm which would be interested in working with them to sell their produce over the internet. The widows are able to participate in the supply of products like passion fruits, french beans, sugar snops, among others produce.

Please contact Laura Slap-Shelton, Psy.D. at info@griefandrenewal.com or Coleta or Michael at wrath_africa@yahoo.com with any information you might have which would help the widows in bringing their ideas to fruition.

WRATH_Africa continues to be in need of donations. You can also support their work by buying African products from the GriefandRenewal.Com Store.
